Learning, Growing, and Serving Together
“As Christians grow in understanding the complexities of the church in China, they are fueled to pray more fervently and serve more wisely. When unity transcends differences, the body of Christ is strengthened to advance the kingdom, in China and beyond.” —Dr. Brent Fulton and Joann Pittman
ChinaSource is mightily blessed to serve in friendship, partnership, and prayer with the church in China and around the world. Following are some current examples of how our Heavenly Father continues to bring unity in Christ through collaborative relationships.
ChinaSource Engages at the First Chinese Public Theology Conference
In July, Andrea Lee, our Content Manager at ChinaSource, had the privilege of participating in the inaugural Chinese Public Theology Conference, hosted by the Chinese Public Theology Association and ReFrame Ministries at Calvin Theological Seminary. The event explored the intersection of public theology with politics, media, artificial intelligence, and more, featuring a notable presentation by Dr. Daryl Ireland on “Chinese Christian Posters: The First Social Media Revolution,” which highlighted gospel outreach from 1911-1949.
This conference gathered scholars and pastors from various generations, including distinguished figures such as Guanghu He (何光沪), Ping-cheung (PC) Lo (羅秉祥), Leonard Sidharta (戴永富), Nicholas Wolterstorff, and many others.
ChinaSource was honored to be part of this gathering, where we reconnected with old friends and forged new relationships with Chinese Christians from all over the world. These interactions not only expanded our network but also introduced ChinaSource to potential content contributors who share our passion for the gospel. Witnessing the emergence of a new generation of public theology scholars was both inspiring and humbling. As we continue to build these meaningful connections, we remain dedicated to supporting the Chinese Christian community and ask for your prayers as we walk together in this vital work.
ChinaSource Fosters Connections at the USCCA Conference
Earlier this month, our Founder Brent Fulton and Content Manager Andrea Lee represented ChinaSource at the 29th US–Catholic China Association (USCCA) Conference at DePaul University in Chicago. Their presentation, titled “God is on the Move,” provided deep insights into Protestant Christianity in post-COVID China, resonating with the conference’s theme of “building friendship and bridges.”
Brent and Andrea shared how Chinese Christians have navigated the challenges of the pandemic, emphasizing the adaptive efforts of churches and NGOs to continue serving their communities amid tightening government regulations. Their presentation highlighted that despite these challenges, “Our hope is in Christ,” and through resilience and innovation, God’s work is flourishing in China.
The conference was a significant opportunity for ChinaSource to build new friendships and reinforce existing ones, deepening our commitment to authenticity and fostering genuine connections. We strive to always point back to the core truths of our faith, ensuring that our work remains centered on Christ. ChinaSource is honored to contribute to the ongoing dialogue about Christianity in China and remains dedicated to supporting and connecting the global church.
