While officials in Zhejiang province are busy demolishing church buildings they deem to have been illegally built and removing crosses from the tops of churches, in Guangdong province a congregation has built itself a new church building in the shape of a violin!
Here’s what China Christian Daily had to say about the church:
Yanbu Church, located in the East Huanzhen Road of Foshan, is called "Violin Church" because of its appearance. There is a cross at the top of the "Violin" which means high lifting the cross and "letting praise arise." Violin is a musical instrument so the design of the church contains the meaning of praise.
Keep in mind that China does have a reputation for, shall we say, interesting architecture, so we shouldn’t be too surprised at this.
