Vice President of Operations

We are a ministry that connects Christians inside and outside China to advance the kingdom of God globally. We do this through educating the global church on critical issues facing the church and ministries in China, as well as by sparking collaborative partnerships between the global and Chinese church.

We are looking to fill the role of Vice President of Operationswith someone who has a “big picture” perspective but is also well-versed in knowing what it takes to “get things done.” The ideal candidate has a passion and vision for ministry in China. S/he will have a strong sense of stewardship across all resources, not just finances, and possess a change agent mentality, strong communication skills, and a collaborative working style. S/he will be comfortable working in changing environments, navigating through ambiguity and uncertainty. Team interactions will be mainly virtual and across different time zones in the US and East Asia. 

To qualify for this position, you should have at least 10 years of leadership/management experience and be familiar with non-profit financial reporting processes and standards. If all this sounds exciting to you, we look forward to reviewing your application. 

Major objectives:

  1. Be an operational leader and right-hand person to the President
  2. Collaborate with the President to drive organizational efficiency, financial health, and achievement of strategic plan and goals
  3. Responsible for overseeing internal operations across all departments, empowering teams, and optimizing resource allocation
  4. Supervise the Senior Administrator and support the President in managing other staff and contractors in the areas of finance, IT and Marketing/Communications

Qualifications and Job Expectations

  • Educational background in Finance or Accounting, Business Management, or related discipline
  • More than 10 years of experience in management or leadership roles, preferably in financial and accounting management and/or systems management
  • Operational experience in the non-profit or ministry sector
  • High emotional intelligence, diplomacy, strong facilitation skills
  • Excellent communication skills and experience leading virtual teams
  • Solid understanding of non-profit financial and accounting principles
  • Ability to analyze financial reports and manage budgets/cash flow
  • Demonstrated success in improving systems/processes and implementing strategies
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to learn quickly
  • Ability to manage and leverage software tools for effective collaboration and data management (e.g., CRM, HRMS, HRIS, ERP)
  • Ability to manage people and processes in a fully remote virtual environment
  • Fluency in English, proficiency in Chinese an asset
  • Preferred existing professional network within the non-profit sector
  • Successfully completes a ProScan assessment as a screening requirement
